Performing Analytical Enterprise Risk Assessment

Whether it is a strategic risk management, planning and execution of information system audits or broadly internal audits, conducting an Enterprise Risk Assessment (ERA) is always a crucial first step. 

Enterprise risks are becoming increasingly complex and interdependent. And these interdependencies, especially those driven by external macroeconomic drivers, could potentially create a “Poly-Crisis,” that results in compounding impacts and unpredictable consequences. Recognizing the interdependencies between the risks as you identify and assess critical risks to the enterprise is how we define an ERA. 

After this workshop, participants will:

Learn about various leading practices in preparing and executing an ERA.
Learn how technologies like IBM-Watson can be leveraged to capture industry trends and emerging risks in preparing ERA participants’ and help them open their aperture to think beyond the “Known-Knowns.”
Learn the significance of the collaboration tools in soliciting and crowdsourcing risk information anonymously for further assessment and reducing the cycle time for quick prioritization and determination of future action plans for enterprise risks.

Prakash Vanguri

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Practitioner

Prakash Vanguri is an experienced Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) practitioner in Ernst & Young’s Business Consulting practice. He is based in Irvine, CA. He is an ERM veteran and thought leader with over 20 years of experience in the design and deployment of customized risk solutions in the US and emerging markets for several Fortune 100 and Not-for-Profit companies.

Prior to joining EY, Prakash was the CRO/Head of the ERM at Healthfirst, a 12-billion-dollar Health Insurance Company serving 1.4 million New Yorkers. Before Healthfirst, Prakash was the Director of ERM for Cambia Health Solutions, a family of more than 25 healthcare companies based in Portland, OR, and Green Dot, a FinTech and bank holding company headquartered in Pasadena, CA.

As an adjunct professor, Prakash taught ERM courses at Columbia University in the city of New York and Yeshiva University. He is a regular presenter and a panelist at ERM conferences. Prakash holds a Master of Science degree in actuarial science from the University of Manitoba in central Canada and a Bachelor of Arts degree with a triple major in mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics from the Nizam College in south India.

Muhammad Bilal Butt is an experienced enterprise and operational risk practitioner in Ernst & Young’s Business Consulting practice. He has over six (6) years of experience in risk evaluation, risk mitigation, process improvement, and compliance. Today, he is involved in the end-to-end execution of ERM (Enterprise Risk Management) programs.

He also has experience in Internal Audit, SOX 404, and BSA/ AML engagements across the banking, insurance, technology, energy, and healthcare sectors.

Muhammad Bilal holds a Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) certification.
