Dinner Meeting Topic:
Social Media Security (Updated 9/9/14)
Please note that our previously scheduled speaker had a family emergency and so we have a new topic and speaker.
There is no stopping Social Media from impacting your organization. Nielson, State of the Media, suggests that the use of social media and blogs accounts for 23 percent of all time online, three times the amount of time spent using email. It comes in a vast array of forms and is available in an ever expanding number of outlets. Organizations that have embraced Social Media have seen new avenues for value creation and means for reaching consumers. The workforce, particularly the ‘Millennials’, expect their employers to make it available through the course of the day. However, as with most things, Social Media also presents new risk management challenges that organizations need to consider and address.
During the presentation, we will look at the 3 distinct types of Social Media areas found in organizations, describe their value creation and inherent risks, review how organizations have struggled managing their message/brand on Social Media outlets, and review a framework that can be used to assess these risk and identify mitigation strategies and tactics.
Learning objectives:
- Social Media Overview – Forms and Outlets
- Social Media Areas Found in Organizations
- Social Media Value Creation and Risks
- Social Media Risks Management Strategies and Tactics
