Business Continuity – Value Beyond the Plan

Having plans to react, respond and recover from disruptive events is a critical element to both information security and business continuity. Too many organizations view the plan (or testing it) as the objective. Many organizations take a ‘siloed’ approach to risk management. Information security and business continuity are elements of an Operational Risk Management Program that have board-level visibility. This session will explore how security, continuity and other disciplines (like incident & crisis management, vendor/third-party management, technology, etc.) are integrated to reduce risk, meet regulatory requirements and add value to an organization’s mission.

Philip Bigge has nearly 20 years of experience working with Fortune 500 companies to build sustainable business continuity, technology disaster recovery, vendor continuity, and crisis management programs across the globe. Philip has successfully led these organizations through more than 35 major disasters. He has successfully integrated many of these programs into IT Risk Management divisions.

We are also supporting the Children’s Trust Fund, a resource development program that is part of the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). DCFS works to protect 35,000 neglected and abused children in Los Angeles County, place them in temporary foster care, and reunify families when safe to do so or seek adoption alternatives. Where abuse hurts, Children’s Trust Fund helps. Whether it’s buying a special wheelchair for a child, providing clothes, or giving a guitar to a young girl to help her find some joy from music, Children’s Trust Fund has served the needs of children throughout its 47-year history. Please bring a new, unwrapped gift (e.g., books, DVDs, movie tickets, skateboards, iPhone earbuds, $20 gift cards) to provide to a foster child (ages infant to 21 years old) and make their holidays a little brighter. Tax deductible donations to help provide dental and other services to foster children are also accepted here

For your participation, you will receive an extra raffle ticket for our door prizes.
