2020 ISACA CommunITy Day

ISACA chapters and staff are exemplifying our purpose, promise, and values with a day of service around the world. Not only can we help individuals realize the positive potential of technology, but together, we can help people realize the positive potential of ISACA’s global society.
On October 3, 2020, we will start in New Zealand at the stroke of midnight and circle the globe live with you, capturing your pictures and excitement as events unfold throughout this 24-hour annual event the first Saturday in October. We will host a live feed highlighting many of the ways ISACA is making a difference.
The Los Angeles Chapter is hosting multiple community service events in the surrounding cities. From supporting care packages for troops to participating in walks and educating local students on cyber risks, we are excited to invite you to sign up for one or more events using the volunteer sign-up tool, Helper Helper. Sign-up instructions can be found here. Attendance is tracked using this user-friendly tool so ISACA can track the larger impact we are making around the globe. All participants will receive an ISACA CommunITy Day t-shirt per request (size is entered when creating a new Helper Helper account).

OCTOBER 3RD COMMUNITY EVENTS
- SUPPORTING CARE PACKAGES FOR THE TROOPS
Virtual Event
This organization sends care packages to military personnel throughout the world to let them know we thank them for their service. Many do not have basic items out in the field, such as toothbrush and paste. Those receiving packages share with others where everyone in an area receive small items of gratitude.
We are asking our members to provide cash donations to the organization, please sign up on the Helper Helper app to get started. Don’t forget to send an email to the Community Service Committee that you have donated so that we can aggregate our impact supporting the troops.
Please also join us by running or walking a 5K or 1K on October 3rd at 10am, no matter where you are, to show your support for the troops. Sign up on the Helper Helper app to get the Zoom link and join us virtually for the event.
- EDUCATING LOCAL STUDENTS – CYBER RISK
Virtual Event
Join the Chapter as we set up a virtual webinar to educate LA area students learning remotely on IT and cybersecurity risks. We will also introduce IT/cybersecurity as a viable career path to the students.
We will work with schools to share the presentation materials and associate best practices after the event for students that could not attend.
Minds Matter of Los Angeles is a chapter of the national Minds Matter organization working with local high school students. Since its founding in New York City in 1991, the effectiveness of Minds Matter is affirmed as 100% of their students have been accepted into four-year colleges.
This event will be held on Friday, October 2nd at 4:30pm. Please join us by signing up on the Helper Helper app and more information will be provided.

The resultant photographs may be used by ISACA for future promotion of ISACA’s educational events on ISACA’s web site and/or in printed promotional materials, and by attending this event, the registrant consents to any such use. The registrant also waives any right to inspect or approve the aforementioned use of any photographs now or in the future.
