Data Privacy in the Age of Big Data
Abstract
In this session, participants will learn more about data analytics and the role of big data. The data privacy implications as well as additional considerations stemming from data analytics will be discussed. The presentation will conclude with how organizations can better address these challenges.
Speakers
Jeanette Baez is the Executive Director of Institutional Research, Planning, and Analytics at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona where she supports evidence-based decision making by providing timely and relevant data insights to strengthen and increase college access and student success. She regularly collaborates on projects with leadership across the institution, serves on various university committees, supports accreditation efforts and strategic planning, and oversees the development of dashboards to inform evidence-based decisions. Major data initiatives she has led at Cal Poly include analyses pertaining to the development of multi-factor admissions, CSU Graduation Initiative 2025 efforts, Executive Order 1110, and program impaction.
Jeanette has over 15 years of experience in institutional research with a career that has included positions within the University of California system, Independent Non-Profit Higher Education system, and more recently the California State University system. She is an active member of the institutional research community and has served as a Board member, Vice President, and President for the California Association for Intuitional Research. Jeanette holds a Master’s degree in Social Sciences from the University of California-Irvine and a Master’s in Psychology from Claremont Graduate University.
