There is no doubt that there will be a steady demand for cybersecurity professionals. Cyber positions are fortunate to have a multitude of career pathways and transition opportunities.
Cyber positions are in every company and industry – each looking for a unique set of skills, experience, and education. It presents both challenges and opportunities– providing a variety of roles, possibilities, and questions.
It is a misconception that jobs are guaranteed if you have a college degree, certifications, or attend a boot-camp. The fact is that it may take the average college graduate three to six months to secure employment after graduation. Planning and preparation are more important now than ever to get that competitive edge.

Jonathan Chan
Cyber Solutioning Lead | Global Risk Advisory Growth
Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited
Jon is a senior manager at Deloitte Global Risk Advisory with over 15 years of management consulting and information technology experience. His experience includes delivering large-scale cyber transformation programs, business process and IT controls design, and deploying enterprise-wide GRC solutions to help clients address operational, financial, and regulatory risk. While serving clients, including several Fortune 500 companies over the years, he was also a lead faculty trainer having trained more than 2,500 professionals on various topics including cybersecurity, leadership development, and GRC. Outside of work, Jonathan volunteers by delivering cyber safety awareness program to schools, youth centers, and other community events with the goal of helping kids protect themselves online. He has presented this program to over 2,000 kids, teachers, and parents across the nation. He has served as the ISACA Los Angeles president and is currently a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). He is also an alumni of Cal Poly Pomona.

Ronald J. Manuel
Supervisory Special Agent
FBI Los Angeles Cyber Task Force
Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) Ron Manuel leads the FBI Los Angeles Cyber Task Force, which investigates criminal cyber activity impacting the greater Los Angeles area and imposes consequences on those criminals. SSA Manuel has also led international terrorism investigations and previously ran FBI LA’s training program for new special agents. Prior to his employment with the FBI, he was a supply chain planner for Motorola, Inc and a U.S. Army Officer with multiple deployments. SSA Manuel received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Drexel University.

Carole Schlocker

Carole Schlocker has been with iSpace since it was founded and has been instrumental in building the company’s foundation base of clients and seeing it become a leading staffing and solutions company in the United Staes and India. Prior to joining iSpace, Carole was Sr. Vice President of D.P. Specialists where she was one of the principal contributors in building the company into one of the premier IT Staffing and Solutions companies in S. California.

Cal Poly Pomona
Carol Gonzales currently serves as Cal Poly Pomona’s AVP for IT Security & Compliance and Chief Information Security Officer. She has over 30 years of experience in cybersecurity, audit, project management, and IT service operations within government, higher education, and financial service sectors. Carol also serves as an adjunct professor for Cal Poly Pomona’s College of Business Computer Information Systems department.
Carol is an active member of ISACA since 1996 and currently serves as the Los Angeles Chapter’s President.
Carol has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Master of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in IS Auditing from Cal Poly Pomona. She earned her doctorate from Claremont Graduate University in Information Systems and Technology. Carol is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE), and has the ITILv3 (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) certification.
